THREE DAYS. That’s when I get my life back. Eleanor started school last week but the two middle kids go back on Monday. For the last few weeks, it’s been hectic and more chaotic than usual around here. Back to school paperwork for some children, leftover beach bags for other kids, blog projects I started back when they were all still in camp, fall clothes half unpacked, apparently making picnics is the game of the week so there’s pretend food ALL OVER… I’m currently staring at a naked baby doll, a pair of cleats, today’s mail, Eleanor’s lunchbox and a boot. The left one. This morning I woke up and there were so many things I *knew* I needed to deal with that I had one of those paralyzed moments when I didn’t know what or where to start first! Sometimes the things I WANT to start working on aren’t the ones that NEED to get taken care of, ya know? For example… the guest room gallery wall I put up a couple of weeks ago. Not necessary, but I love it!
All to say… I don’t have anything new and exciting to show you guys today, but I DID want to check in and just say hey. Another Friday in the books. These few weeks of seasonal transition always feel the most mixed up to me and it takes me a week or two to get recalibrated. I have lots of projects looming that I’m SUPER excited to share with you…
Our master bedroom is SO CLOSE! On Monday, I posted a sneak peek of the corner desk I styled for the Fab Furniture Flippin Contest. All that’s left in there is to repaint the stripe on my dresser to match the room, and add some artwork over the headboard. I *think* I have a plan for that, but I might share the room before I finish it, just because I’m excited to show you!
Our foyer is soooo close. The two formerly red and blue chevron chairs are now a glossy black and I’ve stalled a bit on the upholster portion of the room. I also am DREADING finding a stud on which to hand a super heavy round mirror thanks to our 150 year-old plaster and lath walls.
If you follow me on Instagram or Periscope (this link is to another site because my video on Periscope only lasts for 24 hours…) then you saw me tease these AMAZING planters I just made for our front porch. I have plans for those and can’t wait to get my autumn decor on when these guys are finished.
I’m sooooooper stoked to be working with eHow this month… Stay tuned for more on that, but Oliver helped me while I finished up my project for them.
Ever since I stripped the wallpaper off the playroom walls… I’ve had the playroom on my hit list too. No rush, but the sad pathetic paper leftover on the walls is reminder that I’ll need to tackle that.
Currently, our dining room is landing zone #1 for all things excess and mess-related. As much as I’d love to convert this space to a craft room or storage area… our kitchen table can barely fit 6 people so if we ever plan to entertain, the dining room needs to stay put! But… I have some plans to tie it all together and bring in a little storage.
Speaking of storage, the longer we’re here, the more ridiculous the back entryway becomes. And by ridiculous I mean SO MUCH JUNK! With winter fast approaching, I can only imagine what it will look like so I’m eager to get a system in place!
Oh… have you ever had a toilet that won’t stop running? We have one in the only bathroom on the first floor. And I must lift the back off the toilet 10x a day to push the flapper down. It’s an old toilet (natch) so it’s easier just to get a new toilet then it is to monkey around with finding a new set of toilet tank guts that will fit it. Replacing a toilet is something I’ve done, and I like myself a powder room remodel. So I’m excited about this. But it’s a project. A bigger project then just slapping some paint on the walls and calling it a day. TBD when it makes sense to tackle this, but the record will show, I’m not very patient when I get an idea in my head. Which also explains the perma-circles under my eyes!
I feel like I’ve been remiss in sharing some of the smaller projects that might be going on around here so I’ll try to get back to those too! Do you like the small projects or prefer the big ol’ room reveals?
Last but not least… coming up in a few weeks we’re back in business for #SwapItLikeItsHot FOUR! This time, we have forty awesome bloggers swapping their thrifted finds and making them over like the repurposing ninjas they are. 8 bloggers will share their makeovers each day and it’s my favorite bloggy time of year! Mark your calendars: October 5-9!
There you have it! It’s a busy non-post kinduva post for you. Do you all feel the same way about these early days of the season?! I’m just… off my game. Simultaneously excited for things coming up, frantic about stuff in the near future and… hoping I remember to deal with items for the distant future! (Hello, Halloween costumes and fall house tour!)
