The summer has been distinctly more erratic when it comes to kids’ activities… Normally I’d say this time of year is great for fun and games, but we’re juggling the perfect storm of a backyard under construction (so 95% dirt), 100 degree weather and… no A/C aside from the bedrooms. So we’ve been getting away from home whenever can!
Until yesterday morning when I finally found something that Martha was crazy about while her big brother and sister were away at camp! It started with “go-go-gadget” arms reaching up and dumping out a box of toothpicks.
Well, my craft closet hoard paid off, and I had this toothpick jar ready for action.
So what’s the activity? Just putting the toothpicks into the jar through the holes, my friends. Kinda like this miraculous project with a colander and pipe cleaners… my kid was enthralled.
It’s safe to say she spend 15 minutes sticking the toothpicks back into the jar and towards the end, I guess I wasn’t giving her enough fanfare since she started having her own end zone celebration.
If you don’t have the official diner toothpick jar, then an old spice jar or ice cream sprinkle container would work also… anything with little holes for the toothpicks!
