I started blogging in June of 2012 and I’ve come a long way. Or at least that’s what I tell myself… Before Ciburbanity was born, the only blog I read was Perez Hilton. Literally. Over the last 18 months, I’ve learned a lot. I now know who Young House Love are and what a linky party is. I know what a pingback is and what coding will show italics. Heck, I kinda know what coding means! In addition to tracking the milestones of my kids, I pay attention to my unique monthly visitors. I have dozens of new friends with whom I’ve never been in the same room. I curse the Facebook algorithms that mean 10% of you see my status updates and I am officially envious of anyone who speaks HTML. So yeah…quite the learning curve.
Since many of you may have joined the Ciburbanity party train late in the game, I thought it would be fun to highlight some of my earlier posts. I love these projects but admit to some rookie posting skillz! May I present these new and improved [Throwback Thursday] posts! I didn’t change the text unless there were obvious errors, but I have gone back and added some nicer brighter photos! Lesson #1 of blogging…
This is still front and center and I LOVE it. I was tempted to get a similar topper made for the main kitchen table, but it got too complicated. (I ended up painting the kitchen table with chalk paint and some polycrylic so that’s been a nice little update for free.)
Our foyer is a different space– not figuratively speak, and actual new space. A lovelier more welcoming space, mind you… but this foyer table doesn’t fit anymore. BUT… it found a new home in our family room to hold the television. Works like a charm.
Another fixer upper that’s hanging in there. All three kids enjoy themselves a dress up so, if anything, this dresser is typically bursting at the seams. Which is kind of a nice reminder to periodically cull through the dressups that have been ripped or ruined or outgrown!
4. Height Chart
Still going strong. I updated the post to mention one little change we made, but we still check everyone’s height regularly to see who’s grown!
5. Roman Shades
Since I’ve been blogging, I’ve noticed lots and lots of other Roman shade tutorials… mine was probably more complicated than it needed to be, but I like having the black out fabric in addition to the fancy fabric and that was half the challenge. One of the cords I used wore through… but it doesn’t impact the functionality. And I still love the fabric so yay, me!
No updates to this post, but it’s still one that gets a lot of pins and links back. I’m posting here just so you can see my wonderful grandfather. There have got to be some perks to this whole blogging thing, right?! My grandmother is threatening to get an iPad so maybe one day she’ll actually read about this craft project.
Well, for the 12 of you who have made it to the end of this post, I mentioned yesterday about my foray into conquering the stats that are Facebook. It’s estimated that Facebook only lets around 6% of you who like Ciburbanity on Facebook to actually see Ciburbanity on Facebook. (The goal being that business accounts pay to promote their posts.) So I added a Facebook Follow button on the sidebar right under the About Me section to your right. If you’re on Facebook, click this, and I thiiiiiink you’ll be guaranteed to see whatever hilarity I throw down on the Facebook wall each day!
