I don’t know about you, but Shrinky Dinks were one of my all time most favoritest things growing up. It was all about the process as I couldn’t tell you one thing I did with all my shrunken creations.
Well, time to introduce the madness to the next generation, DIY style. Say it with me: this is EASY! All you need are some #6 plastic containers (think salad bar boxes…), and some Sharpie markers.
I traced a circle and let Eleanor decorate inside the circle, but older kids could draw whatever they liked.
Once your design is done, place it in a 350 degree oven on some aluminum foil.
This one took maybe 45 seconds to shrink down. If it wrinkles up on you, you can flatten it as soon as you pull it out of the oven unless you like the undulation.
Eleanor thought the shape was going to change, so this was a fun surprise for her to see how the whole thing looked in miniature.
I plan to eat many many more salads in the future… this is too fun not to do again!
