Oh, hey, October! What’s up? In order to catch my breath and fumble around for a paper bag to control my “When-did-it-become-officially-fall” panic attack, I thought I’d give you a look back on some of the September highlights. *Drumroll begins* (And by drumroll, I mean Oliver working off his birthday sugar high with a mallet and his fisher price xylophone.)
This may be one of my top ten projects to date. Shout out to Waverly for giving me the fabric and the excuse to get my sewing machine groove on. Double shout out for the burp cloths that I was able to make with the scraps!
After FINALLY getting a lawn and our backyard back, we had to make up for lost time. We snagged an amazingly awesome playset and got around to fixing up a second Craigslist playhouse. The playset needed a good power washing (thank you, Home Depot tool rental) and the playhouse needed a coat of paint (thank you, HomeRight paint sprayer).
We’re down to the wire with Baby Watch 2013 over here and in preparation for the big event, I put together a few lists. Hospital bag, check. When you get home, check. What to have stocked in your liquor cabinet… I’ll have to work on that one.
So yeah… it’s not like the signs of fall weren’t there… I just chose not to really and truly pay attention. I did, however, document our first day of school, revel in our return to the land of tractor pulls and 4H, take the kids apple picking in full princess regalia and make one cool little fall decor item.
One of my favorite little flea market stools finally got an upholstery treatment, my newest obsession was born and a friend’s simple question turns into my first mail-order craft project.
Finally, a few more, er, thoughtful posts. One outlining a few of my mommy strengths and weaknesses and the other a candid view of my sweet daughter.
So there you have it… September in a nutshell. In a pretty painted and/ or gilded fall nutshell that I will eventually incorporate into a cornucopia vignette for my All Things Autumn Mantle. Stay tuned…
