Two weeks ago, the fam and I headed down to Florida for a little late winter getaway! Not that Frank would have let anyone within 20 feet of the house, but I didn’t mention anything before we left just because, ya know… security and all. I don’t post about our family outings as much as I used to in the early days of the blog, but… I love to see what my blogging pals are up to away from their nail guns and paintbrushes, so I thought I’d share some photos from our trip. I promise I’ll be back to regular ol’ DIY-ish posts on Thursday. Good news is that there’s also a secret coupon code for you (hint= SHOES) if you keep reading to the end of this post!
For 3 of our kids, this was the first time on an airplane and they were stoked. Oliver was speaking like a flight attendant for much of the trip: “Ladies and gentleman, we’re coming up to Mamie’s house, please make sure your car seats are in their full upright and locked position.”
The weather down in Florida was perfect and gave us hope that snow is not, in fact, a permanent part of our landscape! Also, can I point out these legs and the belly. I die.
There was swimming and beaching and frolicking and even some preseason baseball.
Everyone LOVES swimming but it was so fun to see how far the big kids’ swimming came along when they were spending every day in the pool. Louisa in typical ‘lap of luxury fashion’ just enjoyed floating along with whomever would hold onto her.
We had ice cream for dinner once. (Ok… maybe twice, but the second time was on a whim.) Regardless, guess who’s favorite time of day tends to be mealtime (note earlier picture of her physique!).
I only joined them a couple of times, but the kids walked down to watch the sunrise from the beach every morning… I’m afraid we don’t have nearly the same view up in Connecticut. Sorry, guys.
Mark and I had a chance to walk the beach like our newlywed days. OK, so maybe it was only for 20 minutes during nap time, but nothing to shake a stick at!
On the last day we hit up the local mini golf course. Our kids are enthusiastic if not skilled mini golfers…
Probably just as well, but this was the only alligator we saw on our vacation… next time!
For a big ol’ pregnant lady like myself, the chance to be in summer clothes was a welcome treat! And trust me when I say I fill them all out juuuust fine. Random segue but there’s something in it for you… after my I Did It feature in Better Home and Gardens, the biggest question I got was “Where’d you get those green clogs?” &;I happily shared the link to my source and then, voila… I got the cutest email from Rabiah at Chameleon Clogs who sells and makes them.
Do you see those summer clogs? The. Best. Here’s a glamour shot so you can get close up, but these are just one of the MANY killer choices she has on her site.
Aren’t they the perfect summer footwear?
Once the weather is warmer, I pretty much live in my green clogs, so I am thrilled to have a replacement pair and to share Rabiah’s incredible website and etsy shop with you. She can make clogs custom if you’d like but there’s also an array of great styles and colors ready to ship… go check them all out. Best part? COUPON CODE!!! Yep… she’s offering everyone 20% off any wooden soled clog. She sent me these sandals that I’ve worn all week in Florida… can you handle the colors?! Enter CIBURBANITY at checkout and stock up!
Fingers are crossed that I’ll get to wear these lovelies sometimes soon now that we’re back in Connecticut. Until then, I’ll flip through pictures from our vacation remembering the flowers, the sand, the sun, and the family time!
