Remember when things that involved the word “shooter” gave you a hangover the next morning? Well this #WednesdayPlayday activity is just as fun, but won’t send you for Advil or fried food. I bust these balloon shooters out occasionally and all three of the big kids get a kick out of them. I’m sure these involve some degree of coordination and pincer strength, but really this is just a plain ol’ kill-some-time and have-some-fun activity!
Solo cup/ plastic bottle
scissors/ sharp knife
pom pom/ ping pong ball/ crumpled up piece of paper
optional: a shot glass in case you want to relive your youth while your kids are entertained (I take no responsibility when you realize that just the site of a shot glass gives you a headache nowadays)
Cut the bottom from your solo cup. If you’re using a plastic bottle, cut the bottom and the neck. A sharp knife or scissors should do the trick.
Tie a knot in your balloon and snip the tip.
Stretch the balloon over the bottom of your cup/ bottle and pop in a pom pom ball. When you pull back on the knot of the balloons and let go, the pom pom should go flying!
Okay, do your best to ignore Oliver’s outfit here. He’s wearing a favorite shirt handmade from the Congo (thank you, Bliss G!), and some of Eleanor’s tights. I’ve stopped trying to keep track of their costumes.
And if you don’t know it already… you’ll need to listen to this song:
Enjoy your shooters and drink responsibly.
