Did you see my Land of Nod inspired hells-to-the-yeah pouf yesterday?
Well, I promised a post on these cute (and SUPER simple) burp cloths that I made with some of the leftover fabric from the Waverize It! Challenge.
Anyone who’s had kids can attest to the fact that it’s like body fluid palooza for the first few months so you’ll go through burp clothes like Lady Gaga goes through latex and hair pieces. I like using these basic prefolded 3-ply cloth diapers as they’re a little thicker than what is considered an actual ‘burp cloth’. These are from Babies R Us for around $16/ 12.
Step 1: Measure the center panel of the cloth diaper and cut your fabric with an extra 1/2″ on each side.
Step 2: Fold over all your fabric edges and iron.
Step 3: Center your fabric on the cloth diaper and, with cotton thread, sew on your fabric panel being careful to keep the stitch line as close to the edge as possible.
I waited to wash both the diapers and the fabric until after I sewed them which may be a mistake, but the cloth diapers tend to change shapes a great deal after washing and I figured it would be much easier to sew while it was still smooth and flat and square edged.
Stay tuned to see how baby-to-be enjoys his/ her new burp cloths!
