Last week, Martha and I headed to Marshall’s to pick up a few odds and ends. The dropped ceiling tiles parted, the heavens shined down, and we were drawn to this heaven sent item in the clearance section. You read that right, clearance. I considered it for a moment or two… it wasn’t anything I’d been looking for and truth be told, we have a lot of plants scattered around our small little house. But the clearance sticker was the sign from up above that I needed and into the cart it went. (A woman at the cash wrap even asked about it because SHE got one from Pottery Barn for waaaaaaaay more… “good find” was what she said. What I heard was “you should be a model” or “that’s the smartest thing I’ve ever heard anyone ever say.”)
Fast forward a week, and Martha and I took another field trip to the wonder that is Terrain… they do things with plants and planting accessories that you just don’t see in other places, so they’re my go to spot for inspiration. And inspiration usually turns into a few little purchases. Just saying. (I posted about Terrain way back in the early days when I went there for a terrarium workshop.)
Case in point, this is the situation on every surface through the warehouse sized store (they converted an old Cadillac dealership, so think high ceilings and vast floor space).
I picked up a few fun little items to bring home for my ‘greenhouse.’
When I got home, I turned on the Bachelorette and poured a layer of pebbles along the bottom to help with drainage (and aesthetics). I just used a $5 bag of fish tank gravel from the pet store.
A few simple (humidity loving) potted plants in these lovely aged terra cotta pots, and this clearance rack score is my new favorite little moment in the dining room.
I might accessorize a little bit more in the future, but for now, I love how the three lovely plants are on display.
