Earlier in the summer, Curbly asked me to write up a few DIY posts for them. Yeah… no biggie. I was pretty much like Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch. Or a 15 year-old-girl front row at Justin Bieber concert. Or a Survivor finalist at the ice cream sundae reward challenge.
DIY numero uno was my old dresser that I replaced with this chalk painted beauty. In order to jazz it up, I needed to strip the layer upon layer upon layer of old paint and poly. You can see the patterns of previous paint decorations underneath the glossy black…
I learned a lot about stripping paint… because of my ‘condition‘ I opted for lighter weight strippers, but eventually they got the job done!
Head on over to Curbly to get the full step by step tutorial and see what it looks like to scrape 8 layers of paint off of a wooden dresser (hint: it’s not pretty, but strangely satisfying).
