Another month another chance to share the ER-MAZING makeovers from this months’s Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest. Flash back to June 1 when I introduced the sponsor and the theme for June (Shabby to Chic Storage… Old Fashioned Milk Paint. Woot Woot! I mentioned before, but I’ll say it again… OFMP is wonderful. Not only is it all natural (read: SAFE!), but it also gives you the loveliest chippy finish and has the same ease of use as chalk paint… no prep, yo!
Although I don’t go for the chippy finish on my own pieces… I love seeing the results on others! Here are a few of my favorites from this month’s FFFC AND… last but not least, the winner of the Old Fashioned Milk Paint prize package!
Let’s jump right in with the prettiest green of all time (OFMP Tavern Green)… this desk from Bre at Brepurposed.
Not only do I want to sneak into Bre’s home and steal this out from under her, but I also want to sneak out that artwork hanging above it. Don’t worry, Bre… probably will never happen. This desk is so perfectly aged that it looks like it’s been sitting in some colorful parlor for decades. Hashtag: obsessed.
The next piece y’all need to see belongs to Thea at Sweet Tea Refinishing.
I love the wonderful combination of the rich wood on this piece with the aged and vibrant Slate blue. (Can we talk about these OFMP colors for a sec… glorious, right?!) I know that folks sometimes baulk when a lovely old piece like this is painted, but this seems to be the perfect balance between updating, but still preserving the inherent warmth of the ‘wood.’ Can you believe Thea’s a rookie at this whole furniture flipping thing?!
Next up in this parade of fabulousness… Brooke from Start at Home’s Retro Record Player. So I admit to LOVING the lines of the ‘before’ piece. Specifically the legs. But the makeover is undeniably cool. It works beautifully in her space and the bun feet suit the built-ins better than the MCM originals. Great organizational vision, right?
Last but not least… Jenny at Refresh Living’s herringbone cabinet. I never met a herringbone I didn’t like. I was just reminiscing about my first somewhat complex herringbone project… not nearly as chic as this one. The rich wood shining through the modern geometric pattern is my favorite aspect to this piece.
Wanna know the winner? Bump badda ba:
Colleen of 58 Water Street! Hollah!! Always incredible what a fresh color and some new hardware can do for a single piece and the whole space!
Thanks again to the ever generous Old Fashioned Milk Paint for sponsoring this month and providing the amazing prize package: six quarts of Old Fashioned Milk Paint, one quart of Extra-Bond, one pint of Antique Crackle, one 5 oz. tin of Daddy Van’s Clear Wax (in either Unscented, Lavender or Orange Oil), and one 2 oz. tin EACH of Daddy Van’s Antique Brown & Shadow Black waxes.
Looking at all these projects makes me want to milk paint all of the things in my home… the colors and textures are the prettiest. Pop around to see what pieces everyone else liked by visiting Evey from Evey’s Creations, Stacy from Anastasia Vintage, Lynn from On Fern Avenue, Carrie from Thirty Eighth Street and Michelle from Dandelion Patina.
If you’re a blogger and you want to get in on the Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest action, contact Evey (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Stacy (email@example.com) to find out how!
