Hopping in for a Sunday a.m. post to shoot the breeze, share a few plans and to introduce this month’s Fab Flippin’ Contest sponsor and theme! I realized I blathered on about the highlights from 2015 a couple of weeks ago, but I didn’t get around to the fun plans I have in store for 2016! A few things have been 95% done and I’ve threatened to post about them for months. My bad. Others are on my ever growing agenda for making this house a little less ‘historic’ and a little more ‘hist-awesome’.
As I type, I’m sitting in a room that USED to look like this. Allllllll that yellow? It’s now GONE. At least most of it is gone. There are 5 windows and 2 bookshelves left. But who’s counting. We brought in the pros for this one, so I’ll have a fun reveal post and some painting tips for you as soon as they’re done!
I also teased a little building project I did for the mudroom on Facebook earlier. Hard to believe it could ever get better than this huh? >> Insert sarcastic wink here…
Our foyer is done. But it was all Christmas-fied so I couldn’t take official shots. But… I’ll take care of that for ya too!
I finished it over Thanksgiving, but again… holidays happened and nothing says Merry Christmas like a new toilet and tiled floor in the powder room, amiright? NOT. I decided to wait on that little reveal until 2016. I did give you a peek on Instagram though!
PINKY promise I’ll have some pictures of our master bedroom for you. You’ll laugh when I tell you that the ONLY reason I haven’t posted about it is that the curtains are 4 inches too short and I keep meaning to deal with that. I know. Ridiculous.
Last year I vowed to attempt more upholstery and… I did a little but I didn’t get around to the big project. The Everest of upholstery that’s been staring down at me is a chair that’s been sitting in our garage for 2 years. Well, I lugged it into the family room so I’m forced to deal with it. Wish me luck!
Thanks to her simple request for a desk, I’m eager to put some attention into sweet Martha’s room. It’s lovely as is, but I want to give it a little more TLC and try to pull it together a bit. I LOVE decorating kids’ rooms!
Oh! I can’t forget the Habitat House! It should be finished this spring so you’ll get a chance to see how everyone has decorated each room. I talked about this project here, so go have a look if you missed this big announcement!
Finally, I have some ‘pipe dream’ projects that I’d *love* to get to, but they’re much bigger in scope. Now that the walls are white, the dated green tiles in the kitchen stand out even more. We don’t have the budget to replace them with anything other than adhesive tiles because of the subfloor and the existing hardwood, but… I have some fun options for new vinyl floor tiles.
Our dining room. It becomes a dumping ground, so I’m hoping to find a way to keep it as a dining space, but also allow for the crafts and activities that end up migrating in here. Basically I’d like an invisibility cloak for the crap.
But enough about me and my best laid plans for 2016… I have a contest to introduce here! For January, I’m thrilled to introduce our Fab Flippin sponsor, General Finishes and their new line of Chalk Style Paint. The theme is A Fresh Start so you KNOW folks are going to come up with something good. I’m hoping to use some of it in Martha’s room so stay tuned!
My amazing hosts are much more motivated than I am, and you can check out all their projects here:
If interested in participating in this contest going forward, please contact the lovely Evey at email@example.com or Stacy at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tune in all month to see the gorgeous entries for General Finish’s “A Fresh Start.”
