The rain set this project back a few days, but all I needed was an hour in the sun to make this happen.
Remember my little goal to glam up the front entrance? I added another little detail yesterday.
It’s flea market season so I guarantee you can find one of these old beat up milk jugs at one. This one was particularly gross and rusty (and, ahem, cheap). I had it outside for wet umbrellas but more recently it’s been sitting in the garage waiting for show time.
Here are a couple of ideas from Houzz that could be very cool… but this milk can was CRAZY rusty and didn’t have a lid so I didn’t have any lofty goals for it.
I pulled it out back and gave it a once over with some steel wool. I cleaned it off to remove as much of the dust and grime and grit as I could. It looked slightly more presentable, but still more radio than film if you get my drift.
My basement stash of spray paint had a can of chalkboard spray paint that I used on my old milk can.
Three light coats later and it’s a neat little one-of-a-kind signboard for our front. My imagination was fried this afternoon, so I just chalked on our name, but a more diligent hand could make a beautifully decorated welcome board for any occasion!
