Don’t you just love a bad pun?! One thing I’ve learned about myself since Ciburbanity was born is that I’m not a ‘holiday’ blogger… i.e. I don’t plan ahead enough to share amazing holiday ideas weeks before so that you can then go out and execute said great ideas. Sorry…
Valentine’s Day is no exception. Last year, I shared this fun activity that I did in Eleanor’s classroom, so this year I figured I’d share what we came up with for the kids’ Valentines. The inspiration? Being far too hungry to be wandering the aisles at Costco.
I credit Pinterest for the schtick of this project, but I ultimately did my own thing. Eleanor and Oliver agreed on the text, then I used Picmonkey to create the images we used (each child picked their own font… This is Eleanor’s version as a free printable for you!) Eleanor is old enough to write her own name, and Oliver got involved by writing an “O”.
I went ahead and cut out each fish tank, and then let the kids add their glue and glitter. I grabbed these simple trays from the dollar store to help mitigate the mess…
The dollar store also had these cheap little baggies in the baby-shower section, so we used this to hold their Valentine and their Swedish fish.
All in? Maybe an hour. A super fun kid-made Valentine that didn’t exhaust everyone or destroy our house!
Happy Valentine’s Day! (p.s. This was a more grown up Valentine’s craft I did last year if you’re a procrastinator like me!)
